1 - The Assembly Rooms
Well here we are at the start of the Tamworth Bands Heritage Trail and where best to start it than the place where it all began, the Assembly Rooms, the place where The Beatles played in Tamworth. Here on the night of February 2nd 1963, John, Paul, George and Ringo played a blistering 20 minute set to a packed crowd of lucky local youngsters. The Rolling Stones also played here on December 12 1963 as did The Hollies, The Tremeloes and many, many more top acts. Now the home of the excellent Skull Club – once again the venue is alive to the beat of popular music. |
